Operating university cafeterias and hipster hotels all across the country, the UDS conglomerate decided to do things a little differently in setting up this company cafeteria on the ground floor of its Harajuku office. Open to the public since late April 2017, Relax Shokudo serves the kind of down-to-earth, nutritious, wholesome and competitively priced lunches that can be surprisingly hard to find in central Tokyo. Prepared by UDS's own nutritionists, the menu is simple: at lunchtime (11.30am-2.30pm), choose from the daily teishoku (¥980), which comes with rice, miso soup, pickles and one main dish, the weekly donburi (¥1,080) or the eight-dish hakumai (white rice) teishoku (¥980). Later in the afternoon, you can sit down over some dessert and coffee – their beans come courtesy of Fuglen in nearby Tomigaya.
