Once upon a time, apparently someone thought 'wouldn't a watering hole where you can drink a whole load of sardine-based dashi be great?' An unlikely proposition, you might think, but it's become a reality at Mills Udon & Oden, opened near Nakameguro Station in March 2017. Staying very true to its strangely specific concept, the shop serves up Kagawa-style sanuki udon with broth made from Setouchi sardines, plus steaming bowls of oden – both staples go very well with the sake, liqueurs and other drinks from Shikoku. If you're looking for a place where to kick back with a drink and, ehm, lots of sardine soup, Mills is your spot.
