This afternoon tea at Mesm Tokyo takes inspiration from Johannes Vermeer’s iconic painting ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’. There are eight desserts and savouries along with a mocktail that recreate the 17th century Baroque Period, when Vermeer was at his career peak.
The tea set includes a special burger made with tiger bread, which originated in the Netherlands as well as a semolina pudding topped with berry sauce, bread pudding made with French sourdough, speculaas cookies, and wine jelly sherbet, just to name a few. The highlight, of course, is the exclusive cake depicting the girl’s silhouette from the aforementioned Vermeer masterpiece.
