Found in the basement of a nondescript residential building just a few steps from the bustle of Akasaka Station, Kun is an inventive, upscale washoku restaurant that also incorporates wine bar and izakaya elements. Flavourful seafood soups and innovative meat dishes – made with premium Sendai beef or 'Kumabuta', their original brand pork – form the core of the menu, which also includes notable specialities like homemade smoked cheese bake, Sendai beef sushi and omelette risotto with truffles and foie gras. Drinks are selected separately for each dish by the resident sommelier, whose proficiency goes beyond standard wine all the way to whisky, liqueurs and vintage Madeira wines.
