Konpeki no Umi

Super-fresh seafood from Shizuoka's Ito is the main attraction at this new fish-focused izakaya, opened inside Roppongi's Piramide building in late summer of 2015. Deliveries arrive directly from the Izu Peninsula port every day and are turned into treats like the 'one plate kaiseki' (¥2,980, pictured above), which is a miniature version of the traditional form of Japanese haute cuisine. Bite-sized appetisers and sashimi are served together with stewed, steamed, grilled and fried fish, making for an easy intro to the world of kaiseki. When visiting, make sure to also explore the sake list, which features 16 varieties of Shizuoka-brewed nihonshu.
