Much like Shibuya's underwhelming On The Corner, Harajuku hangout Justin arrived fully convinced of its own greatness, but hasn't done much to earn it. Housed in The Share – a mixed-use development on Meiji-dori that contains offices, apartments and even a rooftop garden – this 'pub & dish' eatery aims to be a magnet for the area's creative industry bods. The space itself is certainly appealing, with terrace seating at the front and dimly lit booths at the back, manned by staff whose fashionable clobber (and indifferent service skills) renders them almost indistinguishable from the customers themselves. Sadly, the machine-translated English on the menus provides an accurate indication of the overall quality of the food – a selection of bastardised Western and Asian dishes that range from average (pan-fried smoked salmon with grilled vegetables and salsa) to downright mediocre (Denny's-grade gratins; under-flavoured ajillo). While that terrace might tempt us back for a few evening drinks during the summer, it's hard to recommend Justin as a dining option.
