Juan Bowl & Tea Tokyo

Time Out says

Sydney restaurant Juan Bowl & Tea recently set up shop in Omotesando, bringing the eatery’s popular rice bowls, specialty teas and desserts to Tokyo. Run by chef and owner Anna Ishiguro, Juan offers a unique twist on donburi rice bowls served with curated tea pairings.

The menu features four different donburi bowls, including the A5 wagyu mabushi gozen (¥3,480), unagi hitsumabushi gozen (¥3,380), the melt-in-your-mouth pork tonkatsu (from ¥3,280 for 180g) and Hainanese chicken rice (¥2,880). The wagyu beef and unagi hitsumabushi sets are particularly notable as they are served with hojicha tea broth that can be used to turn the dish into a warming ochazuke. As for the tonkatsu, the rice bowl is also topped with a side of buttery scrambled eggs which add a unique richness to this classic Japanese dish. Lastly, the Hainan chicken rice is a great option if you're looking for something not-so-Japanese, as it’s flavoured with fragrant lemongrass and ginger and topped with crispy fried shallots.

The menu also features the restaurant's two signature desserts: black sesame warabimochi (bracken starch jelly) and a decadent matcha tiramisu.
