Francis Carmona and Katherine Earnshaw first met in New York and bonded over a shared dream to spread vegan cuisine in Japan. Now they own this vegan pizza takeout shop in Shimokitazawa, selling Sicilian-style square pizza made according to their own original recipe. Although it’s a relative rarity in Tokyo, Sicilian pizza is a common sight in New York City and Long Island – and it’s the New York take on the Italian classic that inspires the pair’s pizzas.
You can get the specialty marinara pizza for ¥600 per slice, or take home a whole large pizza for ¥2,100. We also recommend trying the caprese (¥2,900 for a large) topped with the shop’s own homemade vegan cheese, genovese sauce and roasted tomatoes, or go for the pepperoni pizza with plant-based salami slices.
The weekly rotating list of baked goods is also worth a look. While the standard chocolate chunk cookie (¥350) will do the trick to satisfy your sweet tooth, look out for other sweet-savoury creations adding flavours like rosemary and miso to the classic chocolate chunk cookies.
