If you're looking for a quick and easy lunch, look elsewhere – this Shinbashi eatery, specialising in gyukatsu (fried beef cutlets), is popular enough to attract long queues of hungry salarymen every single day. You'll understand why after only one bite of their signature dish (¥1,300) – a crispy creation, cooked rare and topped liberally with 'special sauce', mayonnaise and katsuobushi fish flakes, combining for one of the best katsudon we've had the pleasure of tasting in Tokyo. Find the restaurant in the downstairs food court-like area of the New Shinbashi Building just in front of the station, and don't stress too much about the queue – turnover is quick, so your turn will come faster than you might expect.
