Goodtown Bakehouse draws inspiration from the cosy cafés in Brooklyn, New York. And that’s obvious from its retro-diner inspired interior, which is decked out with vintage-style furniture and sundries from the U.S.
The menu follows through with the same theme, offering salads, pasta, steaks and American sandwiches. There are also items from the restaurant’s sister stores, such as hamburgers from The Great Burger, doughnuts from Goodtown Doughnuts, and pastry from The Little Bakery.
Recently Goodtown Bakehouse has started serving Italian-style wood-fired pizzas in 12 topping variations, some with a Japanese twist. The Devil’s Salami (¥2,090), for instance, has mozzarella cheese, salami Napoli, togarashi chilli pepper and a drizzle of honey. The signature Kama-age Shirasu (¥2,090), on the other hand, features whitebait and clams. Looking for something more conventional? You can’t go wrong with a simple marinara (¥1,750) topped with housemade tomato sauce, oregano, garlic slices and sweet cherry tomatoes.
