It's still somewhat challenging to find good Mexican food in Tokyo, so we were very happy to discover this charming, no-frills Nishi-Ogikubo joint. El Quixico is a one-man show, run by the owner-chef who takes care of everything from cooking to checks, always maintaining a quiet air of efficiency. As for the food, the appetiser selection is sizeable, ranging from delicious nachos to above-average tacos, while the most popular dishes include goodies like chicken quesadillas, a hearty vegetarian plate and beefy fajitas. Combining your food with some sangria or a more than adequately sized frozen margarita is also recommended. The interior is decorated with about every stereotypically Mexican item imaginable, but don't let that distract you from the excellent grub on offer here. Our only gripe is that the standard salsa isn't as spicy as it should be, so make sure to ask for the 'hot' version when ordering.
