Eight Burger's

Time Out says

Opened in Shimokitazawa in July 2017, Eight Burger’s is one of the neighbourhood’s most serious purveyors of patties in buns. Styling itself as retro with an industrial twist – think exposed brickwork, mismatched chairs and low lighting – the place looks and feels like a ’50s diner…until you hear the rather more contemporary playlist. The menu, split into four categories, is not so short but definitely sweet. You get to choose from over 15 types of meaty marvels, available in 135g and 270g patty versions.

Our 8 Hot Chili Cheeseburger was a fiery pile of beef topped with chilli beans, jalapeño, cheese, tomato and onion; not as messy as it sounds, thanks to the ‘specially made’ buns which hold the ingredients remarkably well, ensuring minimal spillage and a crunchy texture. The booze is certainly cheap, with glasses of decent wine costing a more ¥400 and the ‘make your own’ cocktails ¥380. Kanpai to that. And those not in the mood for burgers will be happy to explore the selection of hefty and generously filled sandwiches, including an XLT, BLT and Spicy Beef.
