Daisan Mannendo has been serving classic Japanese confectionery in Hyogo prefecture for over 360 years – and it has now set up shop in Ochanomizu, Kanda. You can’t go wrong with its ever popular dorapan, which features either a red bean paste and butter (¥500) or strawberries with pistachio (¥605) filling between a fluffy rice flour bread that has the consistency of mochi.
The menu also offers crowd-pleasing desserts like warabi mochi (¥700) as well as a luxuriously creamy azuki bean and cacao cake (¥750). For something more decadent, Daisan Mannendo’s signature parfait (¥1,320) promises layers after layers of sweet treats: red bean paste, castella, warabi mochi, matcha ice cream, soy whipped cream, granola and black sugar jelly.
