At Asantesana Cafe you can enjoy a meal made with seasonal vegetables and local brown rice, all raised without pesticides or chemical fertilizers. You get to enjoy wholesome assorted grains without having to worry about seasonings that are made using harmful preservatives. All this – and it’s just a short hop from the east exit of Ebisu station. It’s run by the Third World Shop, whose street creds include being Japan’s first fair trade business. The daily special, usually served with a bowl of brown rice and a side of veg, is a hot seller. There is even a chicken curry for those customers with a hankering for meat. To the side of the café is a shop selling fair trade groceries and assorted sundries – be sure to check it out after you have finished your meal.
