Chyangra specialises in Nepalese cuisine served in set meals, also known as dal bhat. Expect curry, tarkari (stir fried spiced vegetables), saag (stir fried greens) in addition to the dal (bean soup) and bhat (rice). The dal is a mixture of urad, masul and mung beans with butter and jimbu herb, which goes well with the rice – a blend of Japanese, basmati and marshi (Nepalese red rice).
We highly recommend choosing the Chyangra set (¥2,200), which gets you a classic dal bhat, a chataamari (Nepalese ‘pizza’), your choice of drink and a dessert. The base of the chataamari – a staple appetiser in Nepal – is a rice flour crepe, so it’s lighter than a regular pizza. For the curry, you can choose between chicken or mutton.
You’ll get to complete your meal with a Nepali chiya (Nepalese chai) or mohi (Nepalese lassi), plus a welcome yoghurt sherbet to soothe your mouth from all the spice.
