Not too far from the Omotesando crossing is Peruvian restaurant Aldo. You’ll find a giant alpaca doll greeting you at the door, and inside the cosy space there’s table seating for about 12 people plus a few more at the counter and outside at the terrace. The chef is a third generation Japanese-American from northern Peru, who’s cooking from recipes passed down from his maternal family.
The popular lunch meal on weekdays (¥1,100) gets you a main dish such as lomo saltado (beef stir fry), aji de gallina (chicken stew) or quinoa burger, complete with a choice of soup or salad and a drink. The weekend lunch (¥1,600), on the other hand, comes with an additional Peruvian-style potato salad that’s shaped like a cake.
The food at Aldo is available for takeout.
