Smack-bang in the middle of busy Sangenjaya, you’ll find one of Afuri’s many ramen restaurants underneath the elevated highway. You can’t go wrong with the signature yuzu shio and yuzu shoyu ramen or tsukemen with a choice of tanrei (simple) broth or maro (added chicken fat) broth, topped with chashu pork (replace it with chicken at no extra cost), seaweed, menma bamboo, mizuna greens, half a soft-boiled egg and shredded yuzu. The bitter Japanese citrus adds a tangy kick to Afuri’s famously light chicken and dashi broth. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the spicy yuzu ratan ramen or the exceptional vegan ramen filled with oodles of veggies.
