The cherry blossoms are now in full bloom, and sakura-flavoured items have been available throughout the city for quite a while now to celebrate the season. But as we know, the sakura don’t stick around for long, and as they begin to fade, so too do the treats they inspire.
As one last hoorah before the hanami season is over, we tasted and rated all of the sakura-flavoured sweet treats at 7-Eleven. If you haven’t tried these seasonal delights for yourself yet, make sure to get your hands on them now while there’s still time, as there’s no guarantee they’re all coming back next year.

Doughnut with Sakura Syrup & Strawberry Coating
More like a dense cake than a doughnut, with a light crispiness. The flecks of white chocolate are the perfect complement to the strawberry icing. The choice to coat only half the pastry was a good one, as it keeps the sweetness level in check.

Sakura Chiffon Cakes & Whipped Cream
Light and fluffy blocks of cake paired with whipped cream. What’s not to love? Simple yet satisfying, this one is easily one of our favourites.

Sakura Milk Pudding
This pudding is deliciously creamy, with a subtle sakura flavour. So subtle in fact, that if it weren’t pink, we probably wouldn’t have known it’s supposed to be sakura flavoured. The white chocolate works well, but we’d like a bit more cherry blossom flavour coming through.

Cream Puff with Sakura Cream & Sakura Whipped Cream
This cute little puff’s got a squishy pink exterior with a lightly sweet sakura and whipped cream filling. It’s lovely to look at, but the texture could use some improvement.

Sakura Dango
There's no beating a classic… usually. This version of the glutinous rice snack is visually appealing and has the right chewiness, but the sakura flavouring is practically non-existent. We'd like to see – and taste – a bit more effort.

Pancakes with Sakura Paste Whipped Cream
Basically a sakura filling that's been sandwiched between two pancakes. This one’s not bad, but not terribly impressive either. It’s a decent option if the other sakura-flavoured items are sold out for the day.

Sakura Chiffon Whipped Cream Sandwich
Similar to the pancake above, but this time the cake itself is sakura-flavoured and filled with whipped cream. Delightfully fluffy and a nice little treat.

Sakura Mochi
If you're a fan of red bean paste, this one's for you – the sakura mochi is jam-packed with the stuff. The salted sakura blossom on top is a nice touch and balances out the sweetness perfectly. We like it paired with a cuppa.

Sakura Jelly & Mousse Parfait
This little cup is parfait perfection. The bottom layer is sakura jelly, topped with sakura mousse, then red bean, and finally more cream and little sakura mochi. The sakura blossom is the cherry on top. It all comes together to make a fun and playful dessert.
