Summer is here, and even though many beaches in the Greater Tokyo region may stay closed to discourage crowds, these pools around Tokyo will be open to the public – with a few new regulations to avoid the spread of Covid-19 coronavirus, of course.
Here are the Tokyo pools you can visit this summer.
Katsushika Ward Sport Facility (indoor pool)
The Katsushika Ward Sport Facility pool is now operating from 9am-9pm, and will only be allowing 50 visitors at a time. Each person is limited to a maximum of two hours per visit. High school students and above ¥300, middle school and elementary school students ¥100
Shibuya ward facilities
Includes: Shibuya Ward Sports Center, Daikanyama Sports Plaza, Higashi Kenko Plaza
The public pools in Shibuya ward are now operating. Check the Shibuya Ward website for opening times. High school students and above ¥400, middle school and elementary school students ¥100, free for younger children.
Meguro Ward City Center Gymnasium
From July 1, Meguro Ward City Center Gymnasium will operate as per its regular schedule. Visitors will be limited to two hours per visit. For the indoor pool, adults ¥400, children ¥200, seniors ¥200. For the outdoor pool, adults ¥200, children ¥100, seniors ¥100.
Sogo Undojo Swimming Pool (Setagaya)
Sogo Undojo swimming pool is now operating as per its regular schedule, with a capacity of 200 people. Each person is limited to a maximum of two hours per visit. Adults ¥520, high school students ¥150, free for younger children.
Chitose Swimming Pool (Setagaya)
Chitose swimming pool is now operating as per its regular schedule, with a capacity of 200 people. Visitors will be limited to two hours per visit. Adults ¥520, junior high and elementary school students ¥150, free for younger children.
Minato Sports Center
Minato Sports Center is now operating as per its regular schedule. Adults ¥250, junior high and elementary school students ¥50, free for seniors and younger children.
Ariake Sports Center
Ariake Sports Center pool is now operating from 9.30am-8.30pm. The facility is only open to those who live, work or go to school in Minato ward. ¥4,550 to book a 25m lane for two hours.
