We’ve all been through a pretty rough year, no matter where we are in the world. Although many cities have gone through countless lockdowns, and city life has generally been put on hold, we’re optimistic about 2021 as vaccine rollouts have finally begun in Japan. We may be biased, but we’d say it’s no surprise Japan is one of the two most popular countries people want to work and live. Tokyo in particular has a lot to hope for, with the postponed Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics finally happening in summer this year.

It’s hard to believe an entire year has gone by, but we need your help again. You might be familiar with our annual Time Out Index survey, in which we ask people around the world to share their local knowledge to find the best cities on the planet. Last year, Kabutocho in Nihonbashi, Tokyo’s financial district, was named the city’s coolest neighbourhood and one of the 40 coolest in the world. We can’t wait to see if Kabutocho can hold onto its crown or if a new up-and-coming contender will emerge.

What's it like living in Tokyo at this unique moment in time? Do you think Tokyo is still as exciting and dynamic as before? What kind of future do you think the city is heading towards? Also, what's your favourite neighbourhood and which places do you think are vastly underrated? We're all ears.

The survey is completely anonymous, available in multiple languages and will take less than ten minutes of your time. At the end, you’ll get a relationship rating for you and your city. For us, it’s definitely not complicated!
