Shibuya is going through a fantastical transformation. Since last year, a spade of new shops and attractions have been popping up in this city-centre district. There’s the all-new Miyashita Park, a fully renovated Shibuya Parco and the jaw-dropping 360-degree rooftop observation deck at Shibuya Scramble Square.

This month, Shibuya launches its very own locally bottled beer in collaboration with Japanese craft beer brewery Coedo. The craft brew, named Shibuya Yeast Diversity, is only sold in Shibuya at selected liquor stores, restaurants and hotels.

Shibunama Yeast Diversity Ale
is inspired by the concept of ‘diversity’, as it represents the district’s melting-pot culture and community. As such, the beer is brewed with not one but three types of yeasts typically used in the making beer, wine and spirits respectively. It gives the golden ale a good depth of flavour: you’ll notice some mild sake-like acidity, fruity notes as well as hoppy, citrusy aromas. It’s also pretty versatile when it comes to food pairing.

Here are just some of the locations where you can buy a bottle of Shibunama Yeast Diversity Ale:

Liquor stores

Koike Liquor Store
Hiranoya
Trunk Hotel Store

Restaurants and bars

Akomeya Tokyu Plaza
Torohachi Sakaba
Fam 333
Griffon

Hotels

Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel
Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu
