Private railway company Odakyu Electric Railway has announced (in Japanese only) it will move up the last train times on all its lines from spring 2021 due to a sharp decrease in nighttime passenger numbers caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Odakyu isn’t the first railway company to revise its 2021 timetables – JR East, Seibu Railway, Tokyu Railways and Tokyo Metro are planning similar changes from spring next year.
The last trains on Odakyu’s Odawara, Enoshima and Tama lines will depart up to 20 minutes earlier from spring 2021, and departure times of the first trains of the day will be moved back by five to 15 minutes on all three lines as well.
Odakyu says the timetable revision will also help make railway maintenance and overnight line inspection more efficient.
Details on exact departure times of Odakyu’s first and last trains will be announced in mid-December on the railway company’s official website.
