North America is getting an 8-month Ghibli Fest from April 2022

Classic Ghibli films are returning to cinemas including ‘Spirited Away’, ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’ and more

As Japan gears up for the opening of the highly-anticipated Ghibli Park, fans in North America have something to look forward to as well. Studio Ghibli has just released the lineup for the 2022 Studio Ghibli Fest, which sees a number of the studio's classic films returning to theatres across the US and Canada.

There’ll be plenty of time to catch your favourite flick, as the festival runs from April through to November this year. Look forward to seeing classic titles on the big screen including ‘Princess Mononoke’,‘Kiki’s Delivery Service’, ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’ and ‘Spirited Away’. Two movies are even celebrating major anniversaries this year as well.

Here’s the detailed screening schedule of each film: 

  • ‘Princess Mononoke’ (25th anniversary): April 3, 4, 6
  • ‘Ponyo’: May 15, 16, 18
  • ‘The Cat Returns’ (20th anniversary): June 26, 27
  • ‘Kiki’s Delivery Service’: July 31, August 1, 3
  • ‘Only Yesterday’: August 28, 29
  • ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’: September 25, 26, 28
  • ‘Spirited Away’: October 30, November 1, 2
