From gourmet instant noodles to designer clothes, Japan’s convenience stores are known for their intriguing collaborations. The latest to hit the shelves – or shall we say freezer – is the special Lawson ice cream collaboration with Yoyogi-Uehara’s Michelin-starred French restaurant Sio.
Owner and chef Shusaku Toba has supervised the entire collaboration, which includes three new frozen desserts released just in time for the warm weather. The icy treats are being released over three consecutive weeks with the first dessert already in stores.
That’s right – you don’t have to wait to try this luscious Uchi Café Sio Smooth Cheese Waffle Cone (¥298). It’s inspired by the cheese ice cream served at the end of multicourse meals at the restaurant.
Coming to stores on Tuesday May 17 is the Uchi Café Sio White Peach Gelato Bar (¥198) which consists of 50-percent peach juice and pulp, with the refreshing addition of lychee juice.
The final treat in the collection is the Uchi Café Sio Tiramisu Ice (¥238) which will be available from Tuesday May 24. The dessert brings together the delicate combination of tiramisu and tart passion fruit sauce.
