Heartbreak comes in many forms, but searching for your favourite film on Netflix only to come up empty handed is a bitter disappointment anyone can relate to. If your watchlist on your favourite streaming service is looking a little dry, try browsing through U-Next. This Japanese streaming platform offers a plethora of movies, digital manga and music for ¥1,900 a month.
We know, signing up for yet another subscription might not fit in with your New Year’s resolution to spend less, but the upside to U-Next is that the first 31 days are free. This means you can access some of the greatest Hollywood blockbusters for a full month and still cancel without any fees if you decide you won’t use it often enough. Better yet, most of the features are in their original language and not dubbed in Japanese.
Available titles include hit musicals like ‘Les Misérables’ as well as other Oscar-winning films like ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’. Favour the classics? Revisit works by the greatest directors of our time including Steven Spielberg’s first blockbuster, ‘Jaws’, and Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘Godfather’ trilogy.
The only drawback is that some of the movies on the platform cost a few hundred yen extra to watch. These titles include new releases such as Christopher Nolan’s latest sci-fi flick, ‘Tenet’, but you can use points that come with your free trial to access these films without the additional costs.
Sign up for your free trial on the official website. Note that some credit cards issued overseas may not be accepted.
