While Pokémon video games have always been big hits, last year the franchise took a step in a new direction by introducing a sleep-tracking app called Pokémon Sleep, which lets you turn your slumber into entertainment. The app is now teaming up with FamilyMart to release a series of exclusive merchandise and a special drink that will be available at the convenience store only from June 4 to 24.
The sole edible item in FamilyMart’s Pokémon Sleep Campaign is this bright yellow Pineapple Frappe (¥298) with chewy jelly pieces. The drink is served in a cup featuring either a sleepy Pikachu or a slumbering Snorlax with Pikachu napping on its white belly.
The collab also includes a few fun items for FamilyMart’s Convenience Wear collection. The Towel in Pouch (¥2,000) is a little hand towel that rolls up into a Snorlax-shaped pouch. The towel also comes with a strap so you can dangle it on your bag. We like that the pouch is removable so you can use it separately.
The other item is a Pikachu Mini Blanket (¥2,000) that measures in at 66cm x 44cm. According to the blanket specs, those are the dimensions of a life-sized Pikachu.
During the campaign, customers who purchase two of the jelly drinks will receive a complementary Pokémon Sleep scented paper charm. There are five designs to collect: Pikachu, Snorlax, Togepi, Slowpoke and Eevee.
Residents of Japan can earn stamps by using FamilyMart's Famipay app when buying a Pine Frappe. Collect at least two stamps and you'll be entered into a lottery to win the mini blanket or towel pouch. Additionally, those with four stamps will have a chance to win a Snorlax bead cushion. Lottery applications will be open from June 4 to 28.
