Sightseeing in winter can be challenging, especially when you feel more comfortable staying in these days. If so, you can now recreate a piece of classic Japanese scenery right at home. Popular zakka shop Village Vanguard has just added a make-your-own moss garden kit to its large collection of indoor plants, available via its online shop.

The DIY moss garden kit sells for ¥2,750. It includes a 14cm by 12cm wooden box as well as packages of moss, sand, pumice, sponge, black rocks, mini lantern and a spray bottle.

Assembling is easy. Cut out the moss and place it wherever you want within the box, fill in the remaining space with sand and pumice, spray the garden with water, and then finish off with decorations. Now you have your own personal moss garden that you can admire from the comfort of your home.

Moss is the perfect plant for those with a busy lifestyle, as the upkeep requires little to no effort. All it needs is some daily sunlight and maybe a few spritz of water from time to time.
