This year’s annual Suntory Hall Christmas concerts will feature Bach Collegium Japan on December 24 and the New Japan Philharmonic on December 25.
The ensemble of Bach Collegium Japan, comprising a symphony orchestra and a chorus specialising in baroque music, will be performing Handel’s ‘Messiah’. The biblical two-hour oeuvre exudes the spirit of Christmas in every sense and concludes with the awe-inspiring ‘Hallelujah’ chorus, sure to appeal to even the most cynical Scrooges.
Following up the performance is a Christmas day programme featuring seasonal classics including Tchaikovsky's 'The Nutcracker', concluding with an excerpt from 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' composed by J. Williams.
