Led by Swiss pianist and composer Nik Bärtsch, zen-funk quartet Ronin is playing in Tokyo for the first time in nine years. The band is set to perform for two consecutive nights at Minami Aoyama music bar, Baroom.
Ronin describe their sound as ‘ritual groove music’, a fusion of funk, minimalism and Japanese ritual music. By bringing these seemingly disparate elements together, the quartet managed to create a unique sound and rhythm that is highly idiosyncratic.
The two shows will feature highlights from a selection of over 70 songs in the Modul series. As the production will have a dedicated team of lighting and sound engineers on site, you can expect an optimal audio-visual setting for the performances.
While the two-day tickets have sold out, single-day tickets are still available online at ¥5,000 (¥3,000 for students), or ¥5,500 at the door (¥3,500 for students). Attendees are required to order at least one drink on top of the ticket.
