Given the problems faced by Tokyo's clubs recently, it's heartening to see anyone with the gumption to open a new one – especially in an area with as little nightlife as Harajuku. Galaxy-Gingakei isn't your conventional club, though: its events are billed as 'experiments', focussing on overseas house and techno DJs who – at best – enjoy only niche followings in Japan. What's more, it's only open during the evenings, meaning that you can catch the end of the headliner's set and make your last train home. How refreshing.
