Few bands have done more to define Japan's indie-rock scene over the past decade than Asian Kung-Fu Generation. One of the most obvious descendants of '90s guitar wranglers Number Girl, the Yokohama quartet found much wider success by sanding all the edges off their forebears' post-hardcore template – meaning that they can fill Yokohama Arena with their annual Nano-Mugen Fes. while still retaining a degree of cred. The group are doing a national tour in the run-up to this year's festival, the Tokyo date for which boasts support from US indie rock act Ozma, Japanese emo veterans Bloodthirsty Butchers and poppy compatriots The Chef Cooks Me.
