Unko Museum

Looking for a wacky thing to do outside of our 88 things to do in Tokyo list? Then head over to this temporary museum in Yokohama dedicated to poop. Yes, really. The Unko ('poop' in Japanese) Museum is open until September 30, focusing exclusively on the cute emoji in all its pastel-coloured glory. As this is Japan, the museum has even created its own mascot named 'Unberuto' – a walking poop pile that carries around its own toilet.

The museum is divided into three themed zones, each named after an unko wordplay – 'Un-teractive', 'Un-stagenic' and 'Un-telligence'. Kids can play in a ball pit with a huge poop sculpture centrepiece, while adults can challenge themselves in the kuso (Japanese slang similar to 'oh shit') game, where you step on turd-shaped light-projections to splatter them. Instagrammers will be glad to know that they'll have the chance to pose with colourful poops. Oh, before you leave, check out the souvenir shop for some poop-themed gifts and merchandise.
