This Ninja Festa in Ueno Park is essentially a PR event for Iga City in Mie prefecture, but who cares – it's about ninja, after all. Did you know, for example, that the Edo residence of Todoke Takako, a trusted daimyo of Tokugawa Ieyasu, was in Ueno Park? Iga City and Ueno also have a long-standing connection, with the castle gardens of Iga Ueno Castle (in Iga City) also being called Ueno Park, confusingly enough. At the event, you'll be able to try everything a proper ninja would be able to do, including using a blowpipe and shuriken (throwing stars), and test your knowledge in a quiz. For those wanting to become full-blown ninja, there will be costume rentals too, so you can sneak around Ueno as a true Iga Ninja.
