The Khaosan empire of budget hotels and hostels is centred on Asakusa, so it's no surprise that the chain picked this location – right by Sensoji Temple and the station – for its latest venture. Despite the name, Samurai Capsule isn't strictly a capsule hotel: it's more like a collection of hip dorms with individual box beds, complete with tiny desks, lockable drawers and electric outlets. Available from ¥3,400, these sleeping cabinets are clean and offer excellent value – although the prices are practically the same as at other nearby Khaosan locations. Still, with the comfy lounge and free wi-fi, it's hard not to recommend this one especially for solo travellers, both male and female.
