If you were having trouble distinguishing between Khaosan's multiple Asakusa backpacker hostels, they've made things easier with the latest addition to the family. Billed as an 'experiment in high-end hostel style', the brand-new Khaosan Tokyo Laboratory offers private and dorm rooms in a wide spectrum of punchy colours (design nerds, take note: they're even rated by Munsell value). All rooms come with ensuite shower/bathrooms, though you can cavort with other travellers in the shared kitchen and common areas. There's free WiFi, and they'll also look after your luggage from 8am-8pm if you're off sightseeing. Dorms usually cost ¥3,200 per person, but they're being offered at a reduced rate of ¥2,500 as an opening promotion.
