Sometimes all you need is a quick staycation within Tokyo to rejuvenate your spirits. If you’re looking for a prime location in the heart of the city, head to the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi. The hotel opened back in 2020 and is the luxury brand’s second outpost in the capital. Its central location makes it an ideal choice for a quick weekend refresher or even a mid-week workation.

In the business district of Otemachi, the hotel sits right on the edge of the Imperial Palace grounds. It boasts stunning views over the palace gardens and you'll also be able to catch sights of Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree. During your stay, you’ll be surrounded by these amazing scenery, whether you’re lounging in your room, enjoying one of the two restaurant terraces, or even soaking in the relaxing ofuro (Japanese bath).

24 hours at the Four Seasons Otemachi

3pm: Check-in

Make your way over to the hotel by 3pm and check-in to start your stay. Take a tour of all the hotel amenities including the luxurious indoor pool, gym, steam room and ofuro (bath) area. Rooms feature plush beds, a bathtub, an iPad which you can use to access hotel services, and floor-to-ceiling windows boasting Imperial Palace as well as city views as far as the eye can see.

4pm: Indulge at Café Gourmand or Apon the Est terrace

Head down to Est, one of Four Seasons Otemachi’s two restaurants to enjoy artfully made confectionery along with tea and coffee on the sky-high outdoor terrace. Its 34th-floor location means you’ll be in a prime spot to catch the sunset as you enjoy decadent desserts crafted by Est's pastry chef Michele Abbatemarco, including fresh madeleines hot from the pan, macaroons and sorbet.

6pm: Dinner at Pigneto

Head back inside for dinner at Pigneto, the hotel’s resident Italian restaurant helmed by executive chef Marco Riva, where you can indulge in authentic Italian cuisine made with local Japanese ingredients. Order a la carte or opt for the Regional Sojourn Series – a changing monthly six-course menu designed to transport you to a different region of Italy.

8pm: Drinks at Virtu

Settle in for a nightcap at Virtu, the hotel’s opulent bar featuring art deco-inspired interiors reminisncent of The Great Gatsby as well as a menu of inspired cocktails blending Japanese and French influences. Signature cocktails include The Virtu 75 made with champagne, Japanese gin, lemon, absinthe and orange bitters, or the Champs de Lavande concocted with vodka, Calpis, lemon, violette liqueur, lavender bitters and soda.

9pm: Dip in the ofuro bath

End your day on a relaxing note with a stop by the ofuro (bath) area at the hotel spa. Set up like a sento, you can wash up and take a dip with a stunning view of the city around you. The bath is right beside the windows, so you’ll get a panoramic view of Tokyo’s skyline as it twinkles throughout the night.

8am: Morning swim and workout at the gym

Earlybirds will want to head to the pool first thing in the morning to get a few laps in or opt for a sweat session at the well-equipped gym. If you’ve got the time, you could do both.

Don’t forget to jump into the vitality pool for a hydromassage in between dips or sit poolside under the refreshing mist chairs. If you’re curious about the gym, the space is fully equipped with treadmills, elliptical trainers, stationary bikes and numerous weight training equipment – all with magnificent views of the city.

10am: In-room breakfast

Start your day at your own pace and grab the bedside iPad to order yourself a hearty in-room breakfast. Choose from either a Japanese or Western-style breakfast brought right to your door, along with fresh juice and coffee or tea. Room service is also available around the clock in case you get hungry during the wee hours.

1pm: Afternoon tea at The Lounge

Check out's at 12noon. But before that, make sure to grab a 1pm reservation for an afternoon tea session at the hotel’s lobby lounge. The menu changes seasonally, but expect something like the current mango-themed afternoon tea featuring 12 sweet and savoury bites with fresh tropical fruits. Highlights include a mango yuzu tartlet, a coconut mousse with mango ginger, and a passion lemon meringue cake. Savoury options, on the other hand, feature lobster toast served with coconut, mango and sago as well as a smoked salmon sandwich with wasabi sake-kasu cream.
