Founded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the 1950s as a cheap place for visiting students to stay, this has long since outgrown its origins and offers comfortable, no-frills accommodation to all visitors on a budget. A new building was added in 2003, presenting a greater variety of Western-style rooms, with clean if unexciting furnishings. The in-house dining hall offers a gathering place and a decent breakfast buffet for a reasonable ¥945. A good choice for those who don’t want to sacrifice location in favour of price, the Asia Center of Japan is conveniently situated for the Aoyama area.
