Most restaurants in Japan offer regular tabehodai (all-you-can-eat) plans where you can fill up on your favourite foods at a reasonable cost. Nomihodai (all-you-can-drink) deals are even more popular, especially at izakayas around Japan. You have to watch out, though – many all-you-can-drink plans are about quantity over quality, with places serving up weak beer or watered down highballs, diluting the deal in the process.

However, not all nomihodai options are to be avoided. There are plenty of bars and  restaurants in Tokyo offering a larger range of quality drinks, sometimes even including premium cocktails. Here are some of the best all-all-you-can-drink deals to try in the city.

Lemon sours on tap at Lemohor Sakaba Shibuya

Fan of lemon sours? This popular yakiniku chain from Osaka is offering a 120-minute all-you-can-drink lemon sour, highball and beer deal for only ¥328 per person. You’ll have to head to the Shibuya outpost in front of Tokyu Hands to get the deal.

There's no end date on this offer, but it's only available for those who order the Shacho Course (¥3,799) which comes with unlimited , short rib, skirt steak, horumon (innards) and beef tongue you can cook on your personal grill, plus side dishes like rice, kimchi, motsu curry and more. Lemon sours are offered on tap at each table, so you can top up whenever you want. For more variety, you can ask for extra garnishes to change up the flavour of your sour (for extra cost).

  • Nakameguro

Antonic in Nakameguro says it’s Japan’s very first bar dedicated to the humble gin and tonic, and its shelves are stocked with over 120 kinds of gin from around the world. Now you can enjoy a 90-minute all-you-can-drink option which gets you unlimited gin and tonic for only ¥3,500 per person (last orders after 60 minutes).

Not your average nomihodai, the bar calls  this Taste and Find, and the goal is to help you find your favourite gin. You can choose any of the bottles available at the bar that day and ask the bartender to whip you up a drink.

There's no end date and walk-ins are welcome, but we recommend making a reservation in advance as the deal is limited to five groups (of up to four people each) per day and the bar only seats about 20 people.
