Change has been a constant on the south side of Shibuya Station for years now: it seems like only yesterday when the Toyoko line trains ran above ground and moving from one bus stop to the other required wild leaps into traffic. Bridging the gap between the Shibuya of old and the 'redeveloping' Shibuya of the pre-Olympic era is Legacy, a new watering hole opened in 2015 by a bartender who broke out on his own after several years spent behind the counter at nearby Ishinohana. Setting up shop so close to his old base may seem like a rather bold move, but Ishinohana's regulars sure didn't mind – many of them apparently developed a bar-hopping habit soon after. Not that the two bars are carbon copies of each other: while Ishinohana is far from casual, Legacy is a no-frills spot with a friendly atmosphere and individualist takes on many classic cocktails.
