Around 2,200 irises of 175 species will be in bloom at Shikisai no Mori garden inside Machida Yakushi Ike Park during this festival. You’ll find types like the Edo, Higo and Ise irises that come in different shades of purple, plus an additional 1,000 hydrangeas of 42 species in the garden next door. While the event is on until June 30, the best time to see the flowers is from early to mid-June.
Just a 20-minute walk from Machida Yakushi Ike Park, you’ll be able to see more colourful hydrangeas at the Ebine-en garden, which has a whopping 5,000 flowers of 17 species.
Both gardens are free to enter.
