If you’re a Hello Kitty fan in Tokyo, you’ve probably visited Sanrio Puroland in Tama more than once. Sanrio stans can easily spend a day revelling in rides and shows themed after all the brand’s classic characters. But that’s only part of the fun.

While the main attractions are located within the theme park, you’ll get to enjoy adorable displays as soon as you arrive at Tama Center Station. It’s decked out in all things Hello Kitty along with other Sanrio characters including Pom Pom Purin, Little Twin Stars, My Melody and more. Here’s a walkthrough of the highlights.

When you arrive at Tama Center Station on the Keio line platform, the first thing you’ll notice is that all the signs feature our favourite feline.

Even the platform’s clocks are specially designed to include Hello Kitty, too.

And if you look around, you’ll see Hello Kitty’s signature bow is plastered on the ground and the walls of the waiting room as well.

The vending machines on the platform are also made to fit in with the theme.

Go down the escalator and you’ll be greeted by an elevator covered with Hello Kitty and her friends.

The main departure board on the ground level has Hello Kitty on one side and Pom Pom Purin on the other.

Right outside the ticket gate is a colourful stained glass mural on the ceiling featuring all your favourite Sanrio characters.

Each pillar is decorated with illustrations of My Melody, Pom Pom Purin, Cinnamoroll and Hello Kitty.

And if you aren’t familiar with the characters, you can always stop by the ticket machines to learn about each one.

If you’re coming from the Odakyu line, don’t worry – you get to enjoy a Cinnamoroll-themed platform.

Unlike the Keio line area, this platform is adorned with a blue-and-white colour scheme.

You’ll find Cinnamoroll popping up on all the signs.

And of course, on the vending machines, too.

Even if you don’t have plans to go to the theme park, it’s worth visiting this adorable station to see just how much Japan loves Hello Kitty. Best of all, it’s only a 40-minute ride from Shinjuku Station and the area has plenty of shopping malls, restaurants and bars to visit afterwards, too.
