Yusaku Tawara: Waves of Ink

Advertising

Time Out says

Contemporary artist Yusaku Tawara (1932-2004) has found a receptive audience overseas in recent years, with his large-scale exhibition at the Indianapolis Museum of Art earning particularly rave reviews. The largely self-taught Tawara, who was also a collector and researcher of Japanese folk tools and antique toys, made bold, wave-like brushstrokes his trademark, reflecting the Buddhist philosophy of a world composed of vibrational energy. Building upon the Indianapolis exhibition and a display at Houston's Asia Society, 'Waves of Ink' brings Tawara's art back to Nerima, where he lived for decades.
