In his solo exhibition at Ginza Kuroda Touen, Kyoto-based ceramic artist Shin Murata is presenting a collection of tableware inspired by sekki – the 24 ‘micro seasons’ of the solar calendar. There are 392 pieces in total, including plates, small bowls, sake cups and hashioki (chopstick rests) that feature seasonal flowers, animals and other auspicious symbols.
All of the pieces on display are available for purchase, though each item is made-to-order, meaning it will take a while for your item to be delivered. Shipments are expected to go out sometime during the summer, after all the batches are sculpted and baked in the kiln (note that orders can only be made online while the exhibition is running).
