French visual artist and scenographer Polygon1993 returns to Tokyo for his solo exhibition, Paradigm Shifters – Intersection of Space and Time, at the newly opened The Harmonyst gallery in Hiroo. The artist’s unique style invites the viewer into a distorted realm where social paradigms are shifted and reality and imagination intermingle.
Hailing from Paris, Polygon1993 wields his distinctive style of ‘glitch art’, which involves the use of digital or analog distortions, to create innovative yet nostalgic pieces of work. Utilising elements such as pixelated images and error code messages from video games, he has made finding beauty in imperfections his trademark. In one example he uses a digital-to-analog converter, which is then output onto an old cathode-ray tube TV to create captivating visual portraits in colourful neon.
Heavily involved in the music scene, Polygon1993 has collaborated with artists such as Tame Impala and Charli XCX and brands like OpenAI, Pantone and more to create captivating visuals or music videos. Don’t miss the chance to see this up-in-coming artist’s work up close.
