Shojo manga pioneer Moto Hagio, creator of classics like The Heart of Thomas and They Were Eleven, continues to exert a significant influence over the genre she helped solidify in the 1970s together with the likes of Keiko Takemiya and Yumiko Oshima. This spring exhibition at the Kichijoji Art Museum shines a light on Hagio's sci-fi-themed work through original illustrations, sketches and drawings – a total of 200 pieces related to series like Star Red, Marginal and the above-mentioned They Were Eleven. Well worth it for aficionados of old-school manga – especially as entrance costs a mere ¥100.
