The government's Agency for Cultural Affairs has been running this annual fest since 1997, and it's notable for putting serious artwork on an equal footing with anime, manga, video games and other forms of popular entertainment. This 2023 event marks the festival's 25th anniversary and explores the changes observed in art and our mediums of self-expression over the past quarter of a decade. Roughly 50 works about animation, manga and mass media will be exhibited, with participants ranging from 'Slam Dunk' creator Tekehiko Inoue to local, up-and-coming artists representing the new generation of creatives.
