Held for the first time in 2014 and now gearing up for its sophomore edition, this festival spreads out all over the lush landscape in Chiba's Ichihara, with contemporary art displayed both in- and outdoors, including at a former elementary school and in the middle of the woods. Set to show off sustainability-focused works are the likes of architect Sou Fujimoto, multimedia artist Ryota Kuwakubo, installation creator Yoshiaki Kaihatsu and Comme des Garçons collaborator Hiraku Suzuki, while German art musician Carsten Nicolai (aka Alva Noto) will be exhibiting inside the Ichihara Lakeside Museum, which also functions as a hub for the festival. Accessible from Tokyo Station in an hour and a half, the festival area is serviced by a free shuttle bus.
