For as long as people have been telling each other tales, spooky stories have been conjuring up ghostly apparitions. These stories have a power to leave us feeling we’d rather not meet a ghost, yet simultaneously inspire great curiosity about what such an encounter would be like. This one-of-a-kind exhibition, aimed at kids and adults alike, takes a playful look at ghost stories in their many forms.
Around 20 creators, from genres including manga, anime, picture books, music, poetry and more, have contributed to this highly imaginative exhibition. Your five senses are engaged to let you see, feel, and know ghosts – in the most light-hearted of ways, of course – and even to temporarily ‘become’ a ghost yourself.
Animation, light and sound are fused together to create installations that include a ghost house, a ghost research lab, and even a ghost sento bathhouse. Together with an exhibition of classic picture books, these form a unique ‘Ghost Expo’ that is fun for children and pleasantly spine-tingling for grown-ups.
