In this collaborative exhibition with antique furniture store Contour, artist and interior designer Miki Matsuyama contemplates the ways an artist's environment influences their creative process. Matsuyama's paintings of famous artists' studios are intimate and revealing.
Looking at pictures of Georgia O’Keeffe’s home and studio, you can see how her personal surroundings reflected the minimalist style of her painting. Cy Twombly’s studio, on the other hand, was unapologetically cluttered with its white walls splattered with drips of paint. Alongside Matsuyama’s paintings, furniture pieces from the 1950s to 1970s will be on display, demonstrating the bond between object and art.
