French-Iranian artist Ariane Mercier-Beau gets the honour of being the eleventh creative featured in the Zou-no-hana Terrace’s Gallery Series, which kicked off in 2020 with the hope of bringing more art into the daily lives of Yokohamans. Currently pursuing an artist residency at AIR Koganecho, Mercier-Beau’s creative expression revolves around the symbolism of intimacy and mental health. Here she uses silk cloth to envelop the viewer in a safe, intimate space suitable for displaying extracts from her own diary, with these words sewn directly onto the textiles.
Additionally, on June 25, a free talk will be held with Mercier-Beau and fellow artist and curator Elena Aframova about the concept of the work. The talk starts from 6.30pm and will be followed by a small social gathering from 7.30pm.
